4-4 AND HEADING WHERE???

            Hello Football fans.  Last time this column was written, the Bengals were 2-0 and optimism was rampant.  Since then, this squad has gone 2-4.  In this 2-4 stretch, they nearly lost to the winless Lions, and got blown out at home against the upstart Bears.  The only impressive game was home victory against the division rival Cleveland Browns.  Now, they are coming off a painful & costly loss to the fallen Jacksonville Jaguars.  Warm and fuzzy feelings aside, it looks as if they could blow their only serious playoff shot in 10 or so years.

            The Bengals look at a home game vs. the Tennessee Titans on November 18.  The Titans (like the Jags and Ravens) are a team that have owned the Bengals for about the last 4 years.  I really felt that a win over the Jaguars was essential to earning a playoff berth.  Now, I feel that a loss to the Titans would essentially  bury our playoff aspirations.  Though the “experts”  will throw many other names out, I believe that Dick Lebeau is a Coach of the Year candidate.  This is a very important game and Lebeau must challenge his troops and find a way to draw the very best out of them.
